Genesis 29:35


And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah [lit, praise]; and left [stopped] bearing.

Geneva Bible - Moreover she conceived again and bare a son, saying, Now will I (*) praise the
LORD. (♣) Therefore she called his name Judah, and (♠) left bearing.
(*) Or, confess.

Genesis 29:34


And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined [become attached] unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi [lit, Attached].

Geneva Bible And she conceived again and bare a son, and said, Now at this time will my
husband keep me company, because I have borne him three sons. Therefore was
his name called Levi.

Genesis 29:33


And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I [was] hated [unloved], he hath therefore given me this [son] also: and she called his name Simeon [Lit. Heard].

Geneva Bible - And she conceived again and bare a son, and said, Because the LORD heard
that I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also, and she called his
name Simeon.

Genesis 29:32


And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben [Lit, See, a Son]: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.

Geneva Bible - And Leah conceived and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she
said, Because the (l) LORD hath looked upon my tribulation; now therefore my
husband will (m) love me.
(l) Hereby appeareth that she had recourse to God in her affliction.
(m) For children are a great cause of mutual love between man and wife.

Genesis 29:31


And when the LORD saw that Leah [was] hated [unloved], he opened her womb: but Rachel [was] barren.

(Geneva Bible ) - ¶ When the LORD saw that Leah was despised, he (*) made her (k) fruitful,
but Rachel was barren.
(*) Hebrew: opened her womb.
(k) This declareth that oft times they which are despised of men are favored of God.
