Genesis 26:30


And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.

Geneva Bible - Then he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.

Genesis 26:29


That thou wilt do us no hurt [harm], as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou [art] now the blessed of the LORD.

Geneva Bible - (l) If thou shalt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have
done unto thee nothing but good, and sent thee away in peace. Thou now, the
blessed of the LORD, do this.
(l) The Hebrews in swearing begin commonly with, If, and understand the rest, that is, that God shall
punish him that breaketh the oath; here the wicked shew that they are afraid lest that come to them
which they would do to others.

Genesis 26:28


And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath [treaty] betwixt us, [even] betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

Geneva Bible - Who answered, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee, and we
thought thus, Let there be now an oath between us, even between us and thee,
and let us make a covenant with thee.

Genesis 26:27


And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?

Geneva Bible - To whom Isaac said, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me and have
put me away from you?

Genesis 26:26


Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

Genesis 26:10


And Abimelech said, What [is] this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly [soon] have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.

Geneva Bible - Then Abimelech said, Why hast thou done this unto us? One of the people
had almost lain by thy wife, so shouldest thou have brought (f) sin upon us.
(f) In all ages men were persuaded that God's vengeance should light upon wedlock breakers.

Genesis 26:9


And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety [obviously] she [is] thy wife: and how saidst thou, She [is] my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die [on account of] for her.

Geneva Bible - Then Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Lo, she is of a surety thy wife, and why
saidst thou, She is my sister? To whom Isaac answered, Because I thought this, It
may be that I shall die for her.

Genesis 26:8


And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac [was] sporting [caressing] with Rebekah his wife.

Geneva Bible - o after he had been there a long time, Abimelech King of the Philistines
looked out at a window, and lo, he saw Isaac (e) sporting with Rebekah his wife.
(e) Or shewing some familiar sign of love, whereby it might be known that she was his wife.

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

Genesis 21:32


Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.


Geneva Bible - Thus made they a (*) covenant at Beer-sheba; afterward Abimelech and Phichol his chief captain rose up, and turned again unto the land of the Philistines.
(*) Thus we see that the godly, as touching outward things may make peace with the wicked that
know not the true God

Genesis 21:31


Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba [lit. Well of the Oath, or Well of the Seven]; because there they sware both of them.


Geneva Bible - Wherefore the place is called (*) Beer-sheba, because there they both sware.
(*) Or, well of the oath, or of seven, meaning Lambs.

And he said, For [these] seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.

And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What [mean] these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves?


Geneva Bible  - Then Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven lambs, which thou hast set by themselves?

And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

Geneva Bible - And Abraham set seven lambs of the flock by themselves.

Genesis 21:27


And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant [treaty].


Geneva Bible - Then Abraham took sheep and beeves, and gave them unto Abimelech, and
they two made a covenant.

Genesis 21:26


And Abimelech said, I wot [know] not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I [of it,] but to day.


Geneva Bible - And Abimelech said, (l) I know not who hath done this thing; also thou toldest me not, neither heard I of it but this day.
(l) Wicked servants do many evils unknown to their masters.

Genesis 21:25


And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.


Geneva Bible - And Abraham rebuked Abimelech for a well of water, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.

Genesis 21:23


Now therefore swear [take an oath] unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son [offspring nor with my posterity], nor with my son's son: [but] according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.

Geneva Bible - Now therefore swear unto me here by God, that thou wilt not (*) hurt me, nor my children, nor my children’s children, thou shalt deal with me, and with the country, where thou hast been a stranger, according unto the kindness that I have shewed thee.

(*) Hebrew: deal falsely with me, or lie.
