Genesis 26:20


And the herdmen of Gerar did strive [quarrel] with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water [is] ours: and he called the name of the well Esek [Quarrel]; because they strove with him.

Geneva Bible - But the herdsmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, The
water is ours. Therefore called he the name of the well (*) Esek, because they were
at strife with him.
(*) Or, contention, strife.

Genesis 26:19


And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing [running] water.

Geneva Bible - Isaac’s servants then dug in the valley, and found there a well of (*) living
water.
(*) Or, springing.

Genesis 26:18


And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Geneva Bible - And Isaac returning, dug the wells of water, which they had dug in the days
of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of
Abraham; and he gave them the same names, which his father gave them.

Genesis 26:17


And Isaac departed thence, and pitched [camped] his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

Geneva Bible - Therefore Isaac departed thence and pitched his tent in the (h) valley of
Gerar, and dwelt there.
(h) The Hebrew word signifieth a flood, or valley, where water at any time runneth.

Genesis 26:16


And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.

Geneva Bible - Then Abimelech said unto Isaac, Get thee from us, for thou art mightier than
we a great deal.
