Genesis 22:18

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Note:  In blessing all the nations of the earth because of Abraham, we have a two-pronged prophecy:  One, that the seed of Abraham (via Isaac, Jacob who is Israel), all nation's are blessed because of God's peculiar relationship with Israel, and two, because out of Israel via the tribe of Judah will come forth God's Son, Jesus Christ, by whom all the nation's of the earth and it's peoples are reconciled to God IF they believe on Him.

Genesis 22:10

And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.


Geneva Bible - And Abraham stretching forth his hand, took the knife to kill his son.

Scofield Bible - Isaac is a protype of Christ (Abraham gave his only son as a sacrifice, based on faith in God).  Isaac, who was ready to go to his death willingly.  Isaac, the seed of promise as the future generations promised by God, just as Jesus is the one through whom all who will be saved must come.  The ram would be the substitute, and Jesus was the substitute for eternity of the annual sacrifice for atonement of sins.

Genesis 22:9

And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

Genesis 21:18

Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in [with] thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.


Geneva Bible - Arise, take up the child, and hold him in thy hand, for I will make of him a great people.

Genesis 21:13

And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he [is] thy seed [descendant].


(Geneva Bible) - As for the son of the bondwoman, I will make him (e) a nation also, because he is thy seed.
(e) The Ishmaelites shall come of him.

Genesis 21:12

And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.


(Geneva Bible) -But God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight for the child, and for thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah shall say unto thee, hear her voice, for in Isaac shall thy seed be (d) called.

Genesis 18:18

Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

Prophecy

Genesis 17:19

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, [and] with his seed [descendants] after him.

Genesis 17:7

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed [descendants] after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed [descendants] after thee.

This was the prophecy of the everlasting covenant with Israel.

Genesis 15:15

And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great
