Genesis 23:10


And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the  audience [presence] of the children [lit. sons] of Heth, [even] of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,


Geneva Bible - (For Ephron dwelt among the Hittites) Then Ephron the Hittite answered (For Ephron dwelt among the Hittites) Then Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of all the Hittites that (c) went in at the gates of his city, saying,
(c) Meaning all the citizens and inhabitants.

Genesis 23:9


That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which [is] in the end of his field; for as much money [the full price] as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession [as property for] of a buryingplace amongst you.


Geneva Bible - hat he would give me the cave (*) of Machpelah, which he hath in the end of his field; that he would give it me for as much (♣) money as it is worth, for a possession to bury in among you.
(*) Or, double cave, because one was within another.
(♣) Hebrew: in full silver.

Genesis 23:8


And he communed [spokewith them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat [meet for me with] for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,


Geneva Bible - And he communed with them, saying, If it be (*) your mind, that I shall bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
(*) Hebrew: in your soul.

Genesis 23:7


And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, [even] to the children of Heth.


Geneva Bible - Then Abraham stood up, and bowed himself before the people of the land of
the Hittites.

Genesis 23:6


Hear us, my lord: thou [art] a mighty prince [Prince of God] among us: in the choice of our sepulchres [buriel places] bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.


Geneva Bible - Hear us, my lord, thou art a prince (b) of God among us; in the chiefest of our
sepulchers bury thy dead; none of us shall forbid thee his sepulcher, but thou mayest bury thy dead therein.
(b) That is, godly or excellent; for the Hebrews so speak of all things that are notable, because all
excellency cometh of God.

Genesis 23:5


And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,


Geneva Bible - Then the Hittites answered Abraham, saying unto him,

Genesis 23:4


I [am] a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession [property for] of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.


Geneva Bible - I am a stranger, and a foreigner among you; give me a possession of burial with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

Genesis 23:3


And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying,


Geneva Bible - Then Abraham (a) rose up from the sight of his corpse, and talked with the (*)
Hittites, saying,

And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to  mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

Genesis 23:1


And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: [these were] the years of the life of Sarah.

Genesis 22:24


And his concubine, whose name [was] Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.


Geneva Bible - And his (i) concubine called Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash and Maachah.
(i) Concubine is often times taken in the good part for those women which were inferior to the wives.

Genesis 22:23


And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.


Geneva Bible - And Bethuel begat Rebekah; these eight did Milcah bear to Nahor, Abraham’s
brother.


It is Rebekah whom Isaac will take for a wife.

Genesis 22:22

Genesis 22:20


And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;


Geneva Bible - And after these things one told Abraham, saying, Behold Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;

Genesis 22:19


So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.

Genesis 22:18


And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Note:  In blessing all the nations of the earth because of Abraham, we have a two-pronged prophecy:  One, that the seed of Abraham (via Isaac, Jacob who is Israel), all nation's are blessed because of God's peculiar relationship with Israel, and two, because out of Israel via the tribe of Judah will come forth God's Son, Jesus Christ, by whom all the nation's of the earth and it's peoples are reconciled to God IF they believe on Him.




Genesis 22:17


That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which [is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;


Geneva Bible - Therefore will I surely bless thee, and will greatly multiply thy seed, as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore, and thy seed shall possess the (*) gate of his enemies.
(*) Or, holds.

Genesis 22:16


And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son:]


Geneva Bible - And said, (*) By (h) myself have I sworn (saith the LORD) because thou hast done this thing, and hast not spared thine only son,

(h) Signifying, that there is no greater than he.

And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
