Genesis 30:9
When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to [as] wife.

And Rachel said, With great wrestlings [lit wrestlings of God] have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali [lit My Wrestling].
Geneva Bible - Then Rachel said, (*) With excellent wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister,
(c) and have gotten the upper hand. And she called his name, Naphtali.
(*) Hebrew: wrestlings of God.
(c) The arrogancy of man's nature appeareth in that she contemneth her sister, after she hath received
this benefit of God to bear children.

And Bilhah Rachel's maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.

And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, [Am] I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

stead, which hath withholden from thee the fruit of the womb?
(a) It is only God that maketh barren and fruitful, and therefore I am not in fault.

And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben [Lit, See, a Son]: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.

said, Because the (l) LORD hath looked upon my tribulation; now therefore my
husband will (m) love me.
(l) Hereby appeareth that she had recourse to God in her affliction.
(m) For children are a great cause of mutual love between man and wife.

And when the LORD saw that Leah [was] hated [unloved], he opened her womb: but Rachel [was] barren.

Genesis 29:30
And he [Jacob] went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.

Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven

And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country [lit, place], to give the younger before the firstborn.
Geneva Bible - And Laban answered, It is not the (i) manner of this place, to give the younger
before the elder.
(i) He esteemed more the profit that he had of Jacob's service, than either his promise of the manner
of the country, though he alleged custom for his excuse.
